Islay Coppola

Pain management expert in dog massage, chronic pain management specialist

My Story

As a fully trained canine massage therapist, my goal is to improve your dog’s comfort, mobility, and overall well-being through tailored dog massage therapy. Whether your companion is living with chronic pain, orthopedic conditions such as arthritis or hip dysplasia, or recovering from muscular injuries, massage can offer significant relief and support. I also provide guidance to owners on how to help their dogs thrive between sessions.

Inspired by the remarkable benefits massage has had on my own dogs, I’m passionate about sharing this therapeutic approach with others- especially senior dogs and active or sporting dogs. Having personally experienced the power of regular bodywork, I can confidently say that canine massage therapy offers lasting benefits for both dogs and their humansDrawing from the positive impact massage has had on my own dogs, I aim to share this gift with your furry companion. Having experienced the benefits of regular bodywork personally, I can attest to the positive effects massage can have on both canine and human bodies, and I highly recommend it to all.

My Training

I have completed a comprehensive two-year training program at the Canine Massage Therapy Centre, where I earned my qualification as a Clinical Canine Massage Practitioner through a LANTRA-accredited course. My training has equipped me with advanced knowledge of canine anatomy and physiology, as well as hands-on expertise in multiple canine massage techniques including Swedish, Sports, Deep Tissue, and Myofascial Release for dogs. I’m also trained in the Lenton Method®- a set of targeted myofascial release techniques for dogs that have been clinically trialled for effectiveness in treating soft tissue injuries in dogs, with a 95% success rate.

I am fully insured and a proud member of the Canine Massage Guild, which requires ongoing professional development. As part of this, I complete a minimum of 25 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) annually, ensuring I stay up to date with the latest practices in therapeutic massage for dogs and maintain the highest standard of care.

My Goal

My passion for animals has been the driving force behind my journey into canine massage therapy. Today, I share my life with three Labradors- Maisie, Frankie, and Nala (pictured left). When Maisie was diagnosed with osteoarthritis arthritis at the age of 7, it ignited a determination in me to do everything I could to improve her quality of life. This led me to explore holistic therapies for dogs, including clinical canine massage and other gentle, natural approaches. Seeing the remarkable improvements in Maisie’s comfort and mobility through arthritis relief for dogs inspired me to train professionally in soft tissue therapy for dogs. Now, I’m proud to offer this same level of care to other dogs- helping them find relief from pain, move more freely, and live happier, healthier lives
